Y Combinator’s Winter ’26 cohort highlights AI’s industry reach
Nearly 190 startups presented at Y Combinator’s Winter ’26 Demo Day, with the cohort heavily focused on AI applications across diverse global industries.
Y Combinator hosted its Winter ’26 Demo Day (an event where startups present their products to investors) on Tuesday. Nearly 190 companies participated in the cohort, presenting their startups to the public. AI is the primary focus for the latest batch of companies, underscoring the technology’s continued dominance across the global tech landscape.
The participating companies are working on products across diverse sectors, including law, transportation, and healthcare. Rather than hosting a livestream or an in-person session, Y Combinator posted pitch videos, one by one, around 20 minutes after the founders presented. Out of the cohort, 16 startups stood out for their specific applications:
- ARC Prize Foundation: A nonprofit that creates benchmarks to help measure progress toward AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).
- Asimov: Collects human movement data to train humanoids.
- Avoice: Helps automate non-design work for architecture firms.
- Button Computer: Develops wearable AI hardware.
- CodeWisp: A platform for building games using AI.
- Crosslayer Labs: Helps detect website spoofs.
- Doomersion: A language learning app using short-form video feeds.
- Lexius: Embeds AI into security camera systems.
- Librar Labs: An AI-powered library management system.
- Milliray: A radar system for tracking small drones.
- MouseCat: Uses AI to investigate fraud.
- Opalite Health: An AI medical translator for healthcare providers in America.
- Sequence Markets: A platform for trading across various markets.
- ShoFo: A video library and index for AI Labs.
- Sonarly: Provides automated production issue resolution for software.
- Terranox AI: Uses AI to find uranium deposits in North America.
The push toward AGI remains a central theme, with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stating that AGI has already arrived. Startups in the cohort are tackling the physical infrastructure required to support this shift. For instance, Terranox AI uses AI to find uranium deposits in North America to help power data centers, though uranium itself is, obviously, toxic. On the hardware side, the founders of Button Computer noted, “The next must-have hardware is likely to be some form of AI wearable, so it’s interesting to see what’s emerging.”
