Google’s Gemini app reaches 750 million monthly active users
Google’s Gemini app reached 750 million monthly active users in fourth-quarter 2025, as parent company Alphabet surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue amid intense AI competition.
Google’s Gemini chatbot app has reached 750 million monthly active users (MAUs) during the fourth-quarter 2025, according to financial results reported by its parent company, Alphabet. This user count represents an increase from the previous quarter, when Google reported 650 million MAUs for the app.
The growth comes as Google faces competition from other players in the consumer artificial intelligence space. To put Gemini’s scale in context, the current landscape of monthly active users includes:
- Meta AI: 1 billion monthly users, as reported by Meta.
- ChatGPT: Estimated to have around 810 million MAUs in late 2025.
- Gemini: 750 million MAUs in fourth-quarter 2025, up from 650 million in the previous quarter.
This user growth coincided with a financial milestone for Alphabet, which surpassed $400 billion in annual revenue. Google attributes this performance to the expansion of its AI division, which has experienced increased demand. To compete with Nvidia, Google recently introduced its TPU (Tensor Processing Unit, a custom AI accelerator chip) named Ironwood.
Google also recently rolled out a subscription plan, Google AI Plus, priced at $7.99 per month. While the plan was made available too recently to have any influence on the quarterly figures, Google’s chief business officer, Philipp Schindler, noted that the company is focusing on its free tier and subscriptions, and is seeing great growth.
Additionally, Google launched Gemini 3, its latest AI model generation. Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the launch as a positive driver for growth, noting that customers are directly using its Application Programming Interface (API) to process tokens, which are the basic units of text used by AI models. Pichai stated: “The launch of Gemini 3 was a major milestone, and we have great momentum. Our first party models, like Gemini, now process over 10 billion tokens per minute via direct API use by our customers, and the Gemini App has grown to over 750 million monthly active users. Search saw more usage than ever before, with AI continuing to drive an expansionary moment.”
Why it matters
The growth of the Gemini app and Alphabet’s revenue milestone underscore the financial impact of Google’s AI division and its competitive standing against rivals like Meta and ChatGPT.
