Honor has launched its new foldable smartphone, the Magic V6, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The launch continues the company’s focus on manufacturing what it claims are the thinnest foldable phones on the market. The Magic V6 measures 4 mm thick when unfolded and 8.75 mm thick when folded, representing a slight reduction from the previous Magic V5 model, which measured 4.1 mm unfolded and 8.8 mm folded. Alongside the slim profile, Honor increased the battery capacity to 6,600 mAh, up from the 5,820 mAh capacity of the previous model. The device supports wired charging speeds of 80 W and wireless charging speeds of 66 W using Honor’s SuperCharge technology.

The Magic V6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, equipped with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The device features a new Super Steel Hinge with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, which reduces the screen crease depth by 44%.

Key technical specifications include:

  • Displays: A 7.95-inch main display with a 2352 x 2172 resolution, and a 6.52-inch cover display with a 2420 x 1080 resolution. Both screens use LTPO 2.0, a display technology that enables variable refresh rates between 1 Hz and 120 Hz. The external screen features an anti-reflective coating with a 1.5% reflectivity rating.
  • Cameras: A triple rear camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera. The front features dual 20-megapixel cameras.

To broaden its appeal, Honor introduced cross-platform compatibility features targeting Apple’s ecosystem. The Magic V6 allows users to set up a two-way notification sync with an iPhone and display notifications on an Apple Watch. Additionally, the foldable device can share files with Mac computers with a single tap and can function as an extended display.

Honor plans to release the Magic V6 in select international markets in the second half of the year. Alongside the device launch, the company showcased a new Silicon-carbon battery—a technology using silicon-carbon anodes for higher density—featuring a 32% silicon density. Honor claims this technology could eventually push foldable phone battery capacities over 7,000 mAh.

Why it matters

Honor is pursuing hardware differentiation through extreme thinness and battery density, while simultaneously attempting to bridge the ecosystem gap by integrating directly with Apple devices.
