LG revives its Wallpaper OLED TV line with the new 9mm W6 model
LG is reviving its Wallpaper OLED line with the new 9mm-thick W6 model, featuring wireless 4K streaming and improved display specifications.
LG is relaunching its ultra-thin Wallpaper OLED TV line with the introduction of a new model, the OLED evo W6. The hardware measures just 9mm thick, continuing the company’s focus on ultra-thin display designs. A central feature of the new model is its wireless connectivity system. According to the company, the television can connect wirelessly to a Zero Connect Box—which functions as a wireless hub for the TV—to stream lossless 4K video and audio. This wireless streaming capability is functional provided that the Zero Connect Box is positioned within a maximum distance of 10 meters from the television screen itself.
The display includes several hardware and performance updates over its predecessors. LG claims that the new TV improves on brightness, color, and blacks compared to the previous model in the Wallpaper line. To address viewing quality in environments with ambient light, the display has been certified as reflection-free by Intertek, a product testing and certification group. For performance and interactive use, the television supports a refresh rate that maxes out at 165Hz. It also integrates FreeSync Premium, which is AMD’s technology designed to reduce screen tearing during high-frame-rate tasks such as gaming.
The release of the OLED evo W6 marks the return of a product category that the electronics company first introduced nearly a decade ago. LG originally launched the Wallpaper line in 2017, establishing a niche for ultra-thin television designs. While the company has not yet provided pricing details for the updated model, it confirmed that the W6 will be available in two large-format screen sizes: 77- and 83-inch models.
