Former OpenSea CTO launches Noscroll to replace doomscrolling

Nadav Hollander, the former CTO at NFT marketplace OpenSea, has launched Noscroll, an AI-powered bot designed to browse social feeds and news sites to text users important updates. Hollander, who sold his decentralized finance startup to OpenSea in 2022, built the service because he wanted to stop using social platform X while still staying informed. The service aims to help users avoid “doomscrolling”—defined as the act of spending excessive time scrolling through bad news on social media. Hollander developed the bot alongside co-builder @z0age.

To get started with the service, users text the Noscroll AI agent—defined as automated software that uses AI to perform tasks—directly at (415) 718-4828. The agent then sends a link to connect their X account, which provides Noscroll with information about their likes, bookmarks, and the accounts and posts they follow. The bot runs off-the-shelf AI models on proprietary infrastructure. These models are customized to give the bot a unique communication style, aligning with its pitch to users of delivering pure signal without the typical noise of social feeds.

The service operates under the following structure:

  • Pricing: The service costs $9.99 per month.
  • Free Trial: Users receive a sample news digest for free and can try the service for seven days before subscribing.
  • Future Outlook: Hollander noted that Noscroll may experiment with variable pricing in the future.

The value proposition of Noscroll centers on helping users avoid culturally toxic online environments while remaining informed. Hollander noted that while social platforms can be phenomenally entertaining and informative in ways normal media cannot replicate, they can also be culturally toxic and upsetting to read. The platform has already been used to track highly specific topics, including niche anime industry news and local restaurant openings in Kyoto. This allows users to stay updated on their interests without having to manually scroll through feeds.

“I think the archetype that’s been interesting is anybody who has a professional need to be very online and follow things very closely. It’s quite useful to have a deputy who’s kind of doing that for you on whatever your beat is,” said Hollander, the founder of Noscroll.

Why it matters

Noscroll addresses the growing fatigue with social media doomscrolling by offering a curated, AI-driven alternative that prioritizes signal over noise for professional and personal information gathering.
