Skylight debuts Calendar 2 with AI-powered scheduling features
Skylight launched its Calendar 2 at CES 2026, featuring AI-driven scheduling and household management tools for its base of 1.3 million-plus families.
At the CES 2026 consumer electronics trade show, family organization company Skylight debuted its latest hardware offering, the Skylight Calendar 2. The new device is designed to sit between the company’s existing product tiers, featuring a sleeker design than the original 15-inch digital calendar model while being smaller than the 27-inch wall-mounted Calendar Max. This release allows the company to offer a mid-sized hardware option for households seeking to coordinate schedules on a dedicated physical screen.
Rather than relying solely on hardware appeal, the Skylight Calendar 2 emphasizes software integrations to centralize family logistics. The device acts as a unified hub by consolidating schedules from various external platforms, integrating calendar services from Google, iCal, and Microsoft, alongside specialized applications like the sports team management platform TeamSnap. To reduce the manual effort of inputting events, the system uses artificial intelligence to automatically update the calendar. Users can capture photos of paper flyers or upload emails, and the AI parses the text to extract dates and times, automatically adding the events to the shared family schedule.
The launch comes as Skylight continues to grow its business. Skylight is a bootstrapped company—meaning it has been self-funded without relying on external venture capital—and has operated as a profitable business. The company currently serves 1.3 million-plus families who use its digital calendars for daily organization. In addition to basic scheduling, Skylight is expanding its software capabilities into broader household management. The system now includes tools for meal planning and automated grocery list creation. For example, a family can designate Tuesday for a specific meal, and the system can automatically compile the necessary ingredients into a shopping list. This list can then be sent directly to partner applications like the grocery delivery service Instacart to complete the order.
Why it matters
Skylight is expanding its product line with the Calendar 2, leveraging AI capabilities to integrate disparate family scheduling services and automate household management tasks like meal planning and grocery list creation. This transition positions the company to move beyond simple display hardware toward becoming a centralized, automated coordinator for household logistics.
