Spotify launches limited-time listening history recap
Spotify has launched a limited-time, worldwide feature offering users a recap of their listening history to celebrate the company's 20th anniversary.
Spotify is releasing a new, limited-time feature that surfaces various facts about users and their listening history. The feature is available worldwide to users as part of the streaming service’s ongoing 20th anniversary celebration. The anniversary milestone also highlights Taylor Swift, who is the most-streamed artist on the platform. However, the new feature is highly temporary, as it will only be around for six weeks.
The new feature functions similarly to Wrapped, which is Spotify’s annual year-in-review feature. It allows users to generate shareable stat cards and a personalized playlist of their top 120 songs, which displays how many times they listened to each song. Users can access the recap by opening the Spotify application and searching for specific terms, such as “Spotify 20” or “Party of the year(s)”, or by visiting a direct link.
The recap includes several personalized statistics:
- The date the user joined the application
- The first song the user ever streamed on the platform
- The user’s favorite artist
- A personalized playlist of the user’s top 120 songs, showing the exact play count for each track and the total number of unique songs listened to
Just like the traditional Wrapped campaign, the feature lets users share these stat cards, as well as their personalized playlists, with friends and on social media platforms.
This launch builds on the high engagement metrics of Spotify’s previous year-in-review campaigns. The company reported that Wrapped 2025 saw over 200 million engaged users within its first 24 hours. This represented a 19% increase in engagement compared to the 2024 campaign, which was characterized as an AI-centered flop. Additionally, users shared their Wrapped 2025 recaps 500 million times.
Why it matters
The annual Wrapped feature is a major driver of user engagement for Spotify. This new limited-time recap serves as a key component of the company’s 20th anniversary celebrations, leveraging historical user data to replicate the viral sharing patterns of its year-end campaigns.
